Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee's former former manager has pleaded not guilty to making bogus 911 calls in order to disrupt a welfare check on the 95-year-old at his Los Angeles home.

Attorney Alex Kessel entered a not guilty plea Monday in Los Angeles for Lee's former sidekick, Keya Morgan, who is charged with calling 911 to report that authorities conducting a welfare check on the 95-year-old Lee were burglars.

Morgan is facing misdemeanor charges for the alleged false calls, while he is also under investigation for claims of elder abuse.

Morgan was arrested in June on suspicion of making a false police report for placing an emergency 911 call for a burglary in progress at Lee's home.

Morgan claims he is the victim of a witch hunt by Lee's daughter, J.C. Lee, because she is jealous of his relationship with her media mogul father

The phone call was made just after two police detectives and a social worker arrived to check on Lee's welfare, according to a police affidavit filed with Lallas's petition.

'I have a very dear friend I take care of who is 95 and um, uh, three unidentified people have gone inside this house and locked the door and locked his security out and I'm very, very scared that they're harming him,' Morgan said in the 911 call made on May 30, according to a transcript.

Morgan, who says he is Lee's longtime friend, became a personal adviser and manager of Lee's affairs in recent months but has come under investigation for allegedly isolating Lee from family and friends.

Lee's former attorney was granted a temporary restraining order for the Marvel mogul against Morgan in June, which expires on Friday, when another hearing is scheduled.

The petition for the restraining order was filed on Lee's behalf by attorney Tom Lallas, saying Morgan 'inserted himself into Mr Lee's life' after his wife, Joan, died last year.

Lallas is Lee’s former attorney who is working with Los Angeles police detectives.

Morgan befriended Lee's daughter and only child J.C. Lee, and since February has increasingly taken personal control of the mogul's life and household, taking advantage of Lee's age to influence and isolate him, attorney Lallas said in the restraining order request.

According to Lallas's account in supporting court documents, Morgan seized control of Mr Lee's home, and then hired security guards with orders to keep away family members and others the comic book giant knew and trusted, before moving Lee from his longtime family home to a condominium.

Lallas wrote in the petition that the, 'petitioner, along with law enforcement and Adult Protective Services, believes that Mr Morgan is unduly influencing Mr Lee and isolating him.'

In a declaration filed as part of his petition for an 'elder abuse restraining order,' the attorney described the mogul as being in frail health.

Stan Lee has been the subject of a number of stories recently indicating that past associates were involved in a struggle for control of his entertainment empire. He is the man credited with creating comic characters like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Iron Man, and X-Men

It said Mr Lee suffers from severe hearing and vision impairment, relies on round-the-clock nursing care and has 'recently exhibited short-term memory impairment, impaired judgment, and an inability to resist undue influence.'

'Mr Lee has a large estate worth over $50million and therefore is vulnerable to financial predators,' Mr Lallas wrote in the declaration.

The restraining order says the former adviser has inserted himself into the life of Lee – who is behind famous strips including Spider-Man, The Hulk and Black Panther.

'I have taken great care of Stan Lee for the past many years, and have never had a problem directly with Stan. I have a fantastic relationship with him for the past many years as he has stated countless times on the record and I literally saved his life once,' Morgan previously told the Daily News.

'This is a witch hunt by his daughter and her lawyer against me because she cannot stand the fact Stan likes me so much. I will 100% prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the allegations against me are false. And I will definitely take legal action against anyone who is making up these lies. The truth will come out,' he said.

Under the civil court restraining order granted June 13, Morgan cannot contact or even get within 100 yards of Lee until a hearing set for July 6.
