The elderly mother of missing Connecticut woman Jennifer Dulos was seen in New York today after she moved to seek temporary custody of her daughter's five young children, in pictures obtained by DailyMail.com.

Gloria Farber, 85, was flanked by private security guards on Thursday morning as she left her apartment while the search for her daughter Jennifer, 50, continues across Connecticut.

The grandmother was seen making a call with her phone case displaying a touching photo of her five grandchildren, who are aged eight to 13 years old and include two sets of twins.

Farber got into a car driven by the security detail and visited a private residence in Manhattan alone.

The children have been staying under armed guard at their grandmother's apartment since Jennifer was reported missing on May 24, when she was last seen dropping the children off at school. She was reported missing that evening after missing two scheduled appointments in New York.

Farber filed a custody motion on Monday in Connecticut Superior Court, the same day the children's father, Fotis Dulos, 51, and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, 44, were arraigned on evidence tampering and hindering prosecution charges related to the disappearance of Jennifer.

After Jennifer went missing, Dulos asked the divorce case judge to grant him custody of the children.

Farber, in her custody motion, said that she has a 'parent-like' relationship with the children, who have regularly stayed at her home in New York City.

'Even if the defendant is released, on bond or otherwise, it would be detrimental to the children, particularly in the midst of the investigation into the disappearance of their mother, to be forced to leave Mrs. Farber's custody and return to (Fotis Dulos)'s custody, with whom they have not resided for more than two years,' Farber's attorney's wrote.

At a status conference on Wednesday on the custody motion, the court-appointed guardian for the five children, Michael Meehan told the judge that the children are 'safe'.

The judge opted not to take action on the motion filed by Farber. The grandmother did not attend.

Dulos had attempted to visit his children on the weekend that his estranged wife went missing but was turned away by private security.

Court documents filed in the divorce case say Jennifer feared Dulos would harm her in some way in retaliation for her filing for divorce in June 2017, and she noted he had a gun.

Jennifer has primary custody of the children, with their father getting to see them every other weekend.

A hearing in the divorce case was scheduled for Wednesday but has been postponed.

Police and cadaver dogs have been combing through a Hartford trash-to-energy plant for several days for signs of the missing mother.

Late on Wednesday, police executed a search warrant at Dulos' home on Jefferson Crossing, where he had been living with Troconis and her daughter since his wife and five children moved out and into a home in New Canaan two years ago.

Police said today that they have received more than 225 tips about Jennifer's disappearance and almost 70 responses to a request for surveillance footage, the Hartford Courant reported.

Searches have also taken place at Farber's property in Pound Ridge, New York, and a home built by Dulos' real estate company on Mountain Spring Road.

Sources told the Hartford Courant that a search was also conducted at a Fairfield County home where Dulos' company had received a permit to pour cement but the search yielded nothing.

Despite the mammoth investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies for nearly two weeks, Jennifer has not been found.

Arrest warrants link Dulos and Troconis to videos of trash bags being dumped in areas where Jennifer's blood was later found on clothing and other items.

Police said garbage dumped in that area during the time Jennifer went missing had been sent to the trash plant, but had not yet been incinerated. It had been shredded into pieces that were 6 inches or less in diameter, police said.

The warrants show blood spatter and evidence of cleanup attempts were also found at Jennifer's New Canaan home and police said they belied a 'serious physical assault' occurred there.

The court documents also stated that two people, matching Dulos and Troconis' description, were seen on video making around 30 stops to dump trash bags along a Hartford street.

Dulos and Troconis were arraigned in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday.

He is being held at Bridgeport Correctional Center on $500,000 bond. Troconis is out of jail after posting $500,000 bond and was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor.

Both are due to appear on Tuesday at Superior Court in Stamford.
