Man killed in accident at Central Queensland coal mine

A man has been killed in an accident at a Central Queensland coal mine, the fourth such death in six months.

The death happened at about 2:00am at the Baralaba North mine in the Bowen Basin.

It is the second mining incident in the region in the past 12 hours, after a man was badly hurt in a fall at the Collinsville open-cut coal mine in the Whitsunday region at around 8:00am.

He suffered back and spinal injuries.
