Two brothers were arrested on Wednesday after they dropped a five-year-old boy off at a Wisconsin hospital and left him there with what turned out to be a fatal gunshot wound, police have revealed.
The child, Dakari Weldon, was shot on Monday afternoon at a home in Kenosha before being taken to Froedtert South Hospital by two men, where he died shortly afterwards.
Police later identified the men as brothers Javonn and Jovonn Cannon, both 24, and arrested them.
Javonn was charged with homicide by negligent handing of a firearm and Jovonn was issued a count of leaving a loaded firearm with reach or access of a child.

On Tuesday, the boys’ father Curtis Cannon revealed to WISN-TV that Javonn had accidentally shot the boy, before rushing Dakari to the hospital and leaving him there.
One of the two brothers is said to be the boy’s father, though when questioned Curtis refused to confirm which, or provide more details around the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
‘Maybe they was scared to death,’ Curtis theorized. ‘Maybe they took him to the hospital because they realized they f*****d up, and they didn’t want the boy to be in pain or suffer.
‘I don’t raise killers,’ he added.
Police were made aware of the situation when staff at the hospital called to report that the two men who dropped off the ailing child had vanished from premises.

‘It was an accidental shooting,’ Curtis Cannon continued. ‘My kids did not intentionally shoot no 5-year-old kid. It was an accidental shooting.’
According to a family member on Twitter, the boy had been shot in the leg, with the bullet ricocheting into his stomach.
Kenosha Police Capt. Thomas Hamm said an investigation is ongoing. The two men are remain remanded in custody as of Wednesday night, pending a preliminary court appearance on Thursday.
It will then be down to Kenosha County district attorney whether to pursue charges for Dakari’s death against the two men or not.
Police are still yet to confirm how the boy found the gun and whether investigators recovered the firearm at the scene.
