Protesters locked together inside canoe in South Brisbane after blocking bridge
Protesters who blocked part of Brisbane's Victoria Bridge during peak hour this morning, were moved on twice by police before locking themselves together inside a canoe at South Brisbane.
The group, believed to represent Extinction Rebellion SEQ, were holding signs and handing out flyers for another demonstration in August.
Officers moved on the group twice, once to the end of the bridge, and then again to the parkland outside QPAC, where they locked themselves together while sitting inside the canoe.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews arrived to remove the protesters.
The incident is the third demonstration in Brisbane in a week, with more than 700 people marching from the CBD to South Brisbane on Friday protesting the Adani coal mine.
Five people also glued themselves to Russell Street in South Bank before being removed by police and seven people were arrested and detained for breaching the peace.
Last week two people were charged with public nuisance after supergluing themselves to a pedestrian crossing at Post Office Square, in Brisbane's CBD.
