MUELLER'S STATEMNT KNOCKS TRUMP
ROBERT MUELLER'S FIRST STATEMENT IN OVER TWO YEARS.
If you saw Special Counsel, Robert Mueller’s televised statement this morning, what you saw was a modulated yet extremely powerful repudiation of all the nonsense that Trump and his minions have been blathering on about (“no collusion,” “no obstruction”) since the still redacted report was released on April 18, 2019. He began with short summary of the report dealing with Russia’s meddling in the U.S. elections and an encapsulation of what occurred including attempts to obstruct the investigation by Team Trump actors. He spent the bulk of the address referencing Department of Justice policy concerning the unindictable status of a sitting President, why he came to the conclusions that he did and finally basically saying that he is not going to appear before Congress. As he put it, he would not provide any further information beyond what is in his report and he stands but it. He closed by stating that there were "multiple, systematic efforts to interfere with our election." And that every American should take heed.
This last statement was most definitely a pointed slap at Trump, Team Trump and the fact that this Administration has done nothing to prevent future attacks by Russia. Also important was his defense of his team of attorneys, FBI agents and analysts whom he described as of the highest integrity to counter all the crap that Trump has been tweeting about over the last month about treason and malfeasance by FBI officials.

He was less critical of the current Attorney General, in fact not critical at all. Then again, he is an employee of the Justice Department and directly beholden to the Attorney General so I'm not all that surprised at his position. Nor, as it turns out, am I surprised at his blanket refusal to speak publicly about the findings of his report, stating that everything is there and he would add nothing more by speaking out. Then too, it keeps him out of the maelstrom of Trump's allegations and accusations which I'm sure he does not want to be engaged in, After all, he's done his job and if you've read his report not only has he done a bang-up job but one that is through and clearly justifies his reasons for not taking action. This he leaves to Congress and other legal entities.
It was, however, most interesting that nearly his entire statement was directed at the countering the brayings of Trump and his minions since the report's release. As he said, and if you read the report, Team Trump is vulnerable to legal censure over their dealings with the Russians, particularly as it relatess to the communications between his minions and the Russians over the Ukraine and the lifting of sanctions. Then, too there's the matter of the hush money payments to two of Trump's dalliances just before the elections to keep them quiet. (The assignations had occurred years before.)
As far as "obstruction of justice" and the follow-on "abuse of power" allegations, they are fully described in his report and it is quite obvious that he is looking to Congress to take these matters on. Thus ends one of the nation's most dignified and thorough investigations in our history, at least by Robert Mueller and his team.
