Anger over the Boston Red Sox's recent visit to the White House spilled over to the stadium on Saturday night when one group of fans unfurled a 'Trump 2020' campaign banner and another group pulled it down.

The incident happened during the sixth inning at Fenway Park in Boston during a game against the Seattle Mariners.

Red Sox fan and Twitter user Reilly tweeted a photo of the banner on Saturday night.

A group of Boston Red Sox fans briefly unfurled a 'Trump 2020' campaign banner from an upper deck inside Fenway Park in Boston Saturday night

Another group of fans on the deck directly beneath the first group grabbed the banner and snatched it away

Boston Herald sports reporter Michael Silverman captured the moment the banner was ripped down on cellphone video before tweeting it out at 5.49pm.

'Fans at Fenway take down re-election banner for current U.S. president, unfurled before the start of the 6th inning of Red Socks-Mariners game,' Silverman said in his tweet.

The fans on the lower deck grabbed the banner moments after it was unfurled. The two groups of fans engaged in a brief tug of war, which the lower deck fans ultimately won. 

The politically-charged display unfolded three days after the Red Sox controversial White House visit where Trump honored the team for its 2018 World Series win. 

Several Red Sox players of color declined to join their virtually all-white teammates for the trip.

They joined a long list of professional athletes and entire teams, including the 2018 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles and the 2018 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, in refusing to be honored by Trump.

So far, the Red Sox organization has not commented on the incident.
