These fascinating British Airways posters show how the national airline transformed over the decades into a sophisticated global carrier.

They can be found in a new book called British Airways: 100 Years of Aviation Posters and provide a historical timeline of the company.

The book contains 200 posters in total. They often evoked the glamour of air travel at a time when it was a novelty and the height of sophistication.

In more recent years the very best creative talents have been employed to produce some memorable modern artwork.

The book has been compiled by Paul Jarvis, who was the assistant company secretary at British Airways between 1992 and 2003 and is now the curator of the British Airways Heritage Collection.
