For the first time since the 1920s, Indiana citizens are able to legally purchase carryout alcohol on a Sunday. 

The Prohibition-era Sunday Sales ban was repealed Wednesday after decades of debate between legislators, and Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb christened the historic moment by purchasing several cases of beer Sunday afternoon.

Now Indiana Hoosiers reveling in their new rights are demanding Chick-Fil-A open their doors on Sundays as well.

The alcohol ban repeal allowed Indiana citizens to buy alcohol from noon to 8pm on Sundays, however many craved a chicken sandwich to compliment their boozy purchases.

The popular fast food chain Chick-Fil-A is closed on Sundays, which founder Truett Cathy explains as a day of rest and worship for his employees.

As Indiana residents filed into stores to buy alcohol for the first time on a Sunday, one young man stood outside with a petition rallying for signatures to pressure Chick-Fil-A to open its doors on Sunday. 

Austin Taylor, 22, gathered signatures for the fast-food chain to open on Sundays saying 'You can’t drink and drive, but you should be able to eat and drive' to the Indy Star. 

It is not clear how successful his petition proved.

'I'd rather have Chick-Fil-A open on Sunday's than buy alcohol,' Brooklyn Williams said.  

'Starting today you can buy alcohol on a Sunday in Indiana but I still can't get some @ChickfilA #neednuggets #whereareourprioritiespeople,' Brittany Plassman wrote on Twitter.
