Colin Firth’s wife has accused an Italian journalist of stalking her.
Livia Giuggioli, 48, alleges Marco Brancaccia threatened her through telephone calls and texts.
He is also accused of emailing photographs to Firth, which prompted the actor to alert Italian prosecutors.

Police have seized Mr Brancaccia’s computer and phone, according to the Times.
Mr Brancaccia, 55, is a childhood friend of Miss Giuggioli, who owns a house with her husband near the town of Città della Pieve in Umbria.
Mr Brancaccia, a journalist with the Italian news agency Ansa, was reported to have begun stalking Miss Giuggioli in September 2016 because he could not face being cut out of her life.
He threatened to write compromising articles about her and Firth, according to La Repubblica.
In the complaint, Miss Giuggioli said she was living in terror and thought he might be following her, the newspaper said.
A spokesman for the Carabinieri police confirmed a complaint had been made by the couple and that officers were investigating. Prosecutors have put in a request to judges in Rome to take the case to trial.

A spokesman for Firth, 57, said: ‘There is an ongoing criminal prosecution and it would be inappropriate to comment in this circumstance.’
Firth married Miss Giuggioli, a producer in 1997. The couple have two sons, Luca, 16, and Matteo, 13. Firth, who won a lead actor Oscar for his role in The King’s Speech, secured Italian citizenship last year.
Mr Brancaccia’s lawyers said the accusations were false. ‘Mr Brancaccia has absolutely nothing to do with the events described and has already filed a legal complaint to protect his good name and his honour, and to be able to supply his version of the truth of what happened,’ they said.
‘The reconstruction of the events by La Repubblica does not correspond to what really happened.’
Rosita Vallone, a lawyer for Mr Brancaccia, told the Times: ‘The first we heard about a request for trial being made was from the Italian Press.’
Ansa said Mr Brancaccia remained an employee. He works in Brazil as bureau chief, according to colleagues.
