Roger Federer's Australian Open campaign continues on track at Melbourne Park, following a straightforward fourth round victory that sets up a quarter-final match against Tomas Berdych.

The 19-time Grand Slam champion beat former top-ranked junior Marton Fucsovics from Hungary 6-4, 7-6 (7/3), 6-2 in an afternoon match at Rod Laver Arena.

Federer reached the quarter-finals at Melbourne Park for the 14th time, extending his own record. He also reached his 52nd Grand Slam quarter-final, extending his lead over Jimmy Connors, who had 41.

Federer had never played the 80th-ranked Fucsovics before Monday. But Federer had played the 25-year-old Fucsovic's coach, Attila Savolt — he beat Savolt at the 2002 Australian Open.

The Swiss superstar was never troubled on serve, with Fucsovics failing to set up even one break point in the match.

Federer won the match in two hours four minutes, maintaining his record of not losing a set so far at Melbourne Park.

His next opponent will be Tomas Berdych from the Czech Republic, who landed a spot in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open for the seventh time after a 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 win over Italy's Fabio Fognini.

Berdych has been this far at Melbourne Park for seven of the last eight years. The only time he failed to reach at least the quarters was last year when he lost in the third round to none other than Federer.

On Monday night Novak Djokovic will attempt to join his long-time rival in the last eight when he takes on South Korea's Hyeon Chung on Rod Laver Arena.
