It's time to set sail, because the best cruise ships in the world have been revealed.
A range of large, medium and small cruise companies across dozens of categories - including best ship, best service, most luxurious and most romantic - have been handed gongs in the ninth annual Cruise Critic UK Editors' Picks Awards in London.
MCS Cruises' 4,475-passenger MSC Meraviglia sailed away with Best New Ship while Celestyal Cruises won a new award for 2017 - Best for Service. The U.S winner for best ship was the MSC Seaside, with editors raving that the ship has the potential to be 'one of the best Miami-based ships around'.
How about this for a view? An infinity pool overlooking the sea on Viking Ocean Cruises which won the Best Spa category
Judges found Viking's itineraries hard to beat. The cruise line won the Best Itineraries in the River category
Luxury isn't just for ocean liners. Uniworld walked away with a raft of awards including Best for Luxury in river cruising for the second year running. This impressive display is on the SS Catherine
Uniworld also picked up the Best River Cruise award for bringing an 'opulent hotel' touch to the whole river experience

Another new accolade for 2017, Best for Solo Travellers, went to Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines. It also won the coveted Best Itineraries award.
MSC Cruises' award-winning ship, the Meraviglia, impressed the judges with innovations such as introducing Cirque du Soleil at sea, and the exclusive suite-class Yacht Club.
MSC Cruises also won the Best for Families award for the first time ever.
Marella (formerly Thomson) Cruises, whose fares include all tips and service charges, as well as alcoholic drinks on some of its ships, was awarded Best Value for Money.

Cunard Line's Queen Victoria won the Best Ship Refurb category this year

Sunbathe, sip cocktails and just chill out. MSC Cruises have been awarded the best cruise line for looking after the whole family
Marella (formerly Thomson) Cruises won the Best Value for Money category. On some of its ships even the alcoholic drinks and tips are included in the price
The awards are selected by a global panel of impartial cruise experts from Cruise Critic to highlight the best ocean, river and luxury cruise lines.
'With more Brits than ever before trying a cruise for the first time, it's evident that a holiday at sea is becoming a more compelling proposition,' explained Cruise Critic's UK Managing Editor, Adam Coulter.
'These awards combine our editors' impartial cruise expertise, based on first-hand experiences and industry knowledge, to ultimately help travellers select the best cruise choice for them, from the myriad of amazing options now available.'
Other ocean cruise line award winners included Celebrity Cruises, which kept its titles of Best Cabins and Best Shore Excursions. While sister company, Royal Caribbean, also held on to two of its titles - for Best Entertainment and Best Suites.

It's not all about what you do on board but also what you do back on land. Celebrity Cruises impressed the judges with its range of excursions

Retaining its 2016 titles for Best River Cruise Line and Best for Luxury, the judges felt that Uniworld's Boutique River Cruise Collection brought the atmosphere of opulent hotels to the rivers. Uniworld also took the new 2017 award for Best for Service.
Avalon secured the Best Cabins accolade for installing window-facing beds with memory foam mattress toppers and a choice of pillows.
It additionally took the Best for Active Travellers award.

Celestyal Cruises picked up the first ever award for Best for Service at the December awards ceremony
In the luxury awards, Seabourn held onto the title for Best Luxury Cruise Line. Judges were especially bowled over by Seabourn Encore, with its sumptuous, yacht-like feel and finest boutique hotel ambiance. Seabourn also, once again, secured the Best Enrichment award.
The Best Dining award went to Crystal for its imaginative menus and quality range of restaurant offerings.
The line also secured the Best for Service and Best for Solo Travellers awards, as well as the Best Ship Refurbishment accolade for Crystal Symphony.

Southampton was rated the best departure point in the UK to set sail from
Viking Ocean Cruises was once again handed awards for Best Value for Money and Best Spa.
But it wasn't just ships that were awarded.
Southampton Port kept the Best UK Departure Port title for the ninth year in a row. Guernsey took the award for Best UK & British Isles Port of Call.
Other winners in the U.S in the ocean category, meanwhile, included Disney Cruise Line, which won Best for Families for the second year in a row for its wide array of activities for kids, plus plenty of adults-only venues for parents. The line was also awarded Best Entertainment.
And Carnival Cruise Line was named Best for Value for the fourth year running for its 'affordable fares and wealth of fee-free dining venues and activities'. Carnival also received the award for Best Service in the U.S.
In the River category in the U.S, AmaWaterways was named the Best River Cruise Line for the second year in a row for its 'continued dedication to innovation'. The line was also awarded Best for Active Cruisers.
Silversea’s newest luxury ship, Silver Muse, received the award for Best New Luxury Ship in the U.S for 'offering nearly everything a luxury cruiser could crave'. Silversea also won Best for Adventure in the States.
