While the star was also said to have been heard despairing about his acrimonious split from Amber Heard. The source added: 'You can see why there are still some serious fears about his wellbeing.'

Johnny split from Amber earlier in the year amid accusations of domestic abuse.

They had married in February 2015, tying the knot on the beach of the Mortdecai star's private island Little Hall's Pond Cay in the Bahamas with just 24 guests in attendance. It's understood that Johnny and Amber had married legally in Los Angeles first.

News of their split first surfaced in May last year, with Amber filing for divorce from the actor the same month amid allegations of domestic abuse. She was granted a temporary restraining order from Depp, forcing him to stay at least 100 yards away and avoid any contact with her.

Throughout the divorce proceedings, Amber had penned an open letter on the subject of domestic violence and female empowerment, alluding to personal experience.

She had accused Depp of assaulting her on multiple occasions - something he furiously denied, alleging one incident saw Depp throw a phone at her that hid her cheek and eye. Photos emerged of Amber sporting bruising on her face, but police had said they found no evidence of assault.

She had requested a restraining order, detailing Depp's history with drug and alcohol abuse and alleged violent outbursts, claiming she had feared for her safety.

However, the restraining order was withdrawn in August when the pair's divorce reached a settlement.  At the time a joint statement was released by Heard and Depp that read: 'Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm.

'Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.'

According to TMZ, Depp agreed to pay his ex-wife $7million to settle the case.

Meanwhile, the day before his appearance at the Murder On The Orient Express premiere, Johnny was seen clad in full Twenties garb, complete with a pinstripe suit, slicked back hair and thin moustache, as he headed out to Soho's The Box nightclub.

Appearing bleary-eyed, he departed while surrounded by aides, after an evening at the hotspot - which is described on its website as a theatre of varieties, in which cabaret acts have been known to perform using excrement and sex acts.

He paired the look with monochrome spats, a white pocket square and a red poppy to pay tribute to the upcoming Remembrance Day.

Puffing on a cigarillo, his slicked back hair and moustache truly tied together all elements of the retro look to perfection. While Johnny is typically seen in bohemian-style ensembles, this look was worlds away from his usual style.

In the movie, Johnny stars as doomed gangster Samuel Ratchett - who is depicted in ensembles extremely similar to his look on Wednesday.

It has been a difficult year for Johnny, that has seen the star stricken with financial woes.

In February earlier this year, Depp's $2million monthly spending was revealed. The star has taken legal action against his former business managers The Management Group, suing them for 'grossly mismanaging' his earnings.

They, however, counter-sued the actor, claiming they had warned Depp about his 'excessive spending' that ultimately led to his financial troubles.

According to Page Six, among Depp's spending had been $30,000 a month spent on wine and $75million on buying and maintaining 14 homes.

The lawsuit said that the Pirates of the Caribbean star was 'repeatedly warned' by the company about his spending, but chose to ignore the advice given about controlling his finances.

'Depp, and Depp alone, is fully responsible for any financial turmoil he finds himself in today,' it stated.

Depp, meanwhile, is seeking more that $25million from The Management Group and has alleged his former business managers had failed to file his taxes on time, amassing $5.7million in penalties as a result.

The company, however, denied Depp's claims and insisted his taxes were always filed on time and paid when the actor had the funds to do so. They have said they are owed $560,000 in fees and argue Depp is to blame for his own financial troubles.

They are also said to be seeking $4.2million from Depp for the repayment of a loan they had given him.

In October, Depp sued his attorney claiming the law firm colluded with his former manager to siphon $40 million of his wealth.

The actor is said to believe he was taken for a ride by both his legal rep and his financial managers, according to TMZ. Depp's suit claims law firm Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal LaViolette Feldman Schenkman & Goodman, LLP conspired with his financial managers, The Management Group, to fleece him of millions.

The suit goes on to claim loans were taken out by TMG against the actor's massive residual checks, unbeknownst to him.

When Depp's checks did come in they were used to pay off the loans with an added fee going towards TMG, the suit claims. Depp's lawsuit goes on to assert that his own attorneys at the time were aware of what was going on but never alerted him.

TMZ contacted Bloom and Hergott but did not hear back. A trial for the case is set to start on August 15, 2018.
