For the northern hemisphere, winter is coming – and that means a seasonal dose of drama and hilarity is just around the corner.

If past winters are anything to go by.

These incredible pictures, from across the world, capture some truly memorable snowy moments from years gone by including a bald eagle that sat in a snow-covered nest to protect its chicks, a pick-up truck with a snow drift in the cab after it was abandoned in a blizzard and an amazing frozen river, snapped by an ice climber.

Other images include a hilarious bicycle snow-plough, a snow-covered statue that looks like Darth Vader and a remarkable ‘ice beard’. 

There’s also an image that underscores how winter doesn’t throw Finnish people off their stride one little bit.

This incredible image shows water that's been frozen like a sculpture next to an icy waterfall. It was taken in Colorado Springs in 2012 by 27-year-old Alex Vaske, from Arizona, who was ice climbing the waterfall at the time. He said: 'The ice blocks off the river in places so it just flows all over the place and accumulates ice'

Hardy: This picture underscores just how tough an American bald eagle is. It shows one incubating eggs on its nest in Codorus State Park in York County, despite the snow. The 2015 image came from a web cam set up by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Hearteningly, the eaglets survived and flew the nest

Alarming: There's cold, and there's frozen-beard cold

This car was being driven around Brussels, Ontario, in January 2016 as seen here, according to the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police, who tweeted the picture. The driver was ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act with the offence of driving a motor vehicle with no clear view to front. The arresting officer also helped the senior male driver remove the snow from his vehicle, a police spokesman added
