Round two of the Sheffield Shield is over, with New South Wales claiming a dramatic win over WA and Victoria hanging on for a draw against SA.
Oh, and Mitchell Starc took another hat-trick. Yes, another one.
Scorecards:
But (arguably) more importantly, a number of batsmen have gone out and made some runs in a bid to shore up Australia's middle order for the Ashes.
Guess who just won't go away?
Get your caps lock and your angry emojis ready — Shaun Marsh is knocking on the door!
He's not bashing it down, and it's hard to know exactly how much goodwill he still has with the Aussie selectors, but he was better than good for his 93 against our Test attack today.
Playing devil's advocate for a second, he only lost his place in the team last summer because of an injury. And then when he played in India, he helped save Australia's bacon in the drawn third Test.
But I know you don't like him, and he and his brother should never be mentioned in the same breath as the Australian cricket team ever again. I'm sorry I brought it up.
Bancroft puts his hand up again
The Australian selectors now have a serious decision to make about Cameron Bancroft.
First thing's first, he is not really a wicketkeeper. He's done it twice in Shield cricket, and only really gets the job with regularity in T20s and the odd one-dayer.
That said, he is scoring runs for fun at the moment, carrying his bat in the first innings against NSW and then batting gloriously for 86 in the second.
And so the age old question will once again be posed to the Australian selectors — what do you value more from your wicketkeeper, runs or glovework?
If it's the former, Bancroft may as well play at the Gabba. If it's the latter, which it really ought to be, Peter Nevill or Alex Carey should be frontrunners.
Interesting times behind the stumps.
The Show has come to town again
Finally, Glenn Maxwell has shown us a bit of his best. He may have only scored 64, but this was an innings of grit and substance.
The South Australian bowlers decided very early on they were going to bounce Maxwell to oblivion, putting three or four fielders deep on the leg side and hoping for a rash pull shot.
Instead, Maxwell played superbly. He dodged and parried when he had to, and when he eventually decided to go after them, he picked the finest of gaps with Ponting-esque precision.
In the end, he copped a great ball from Joe Mennie, but these were great signs for Maxwell — especially when fellow number six candidate Hilton Cartwright completed a pair against NSW. Yikes.
Mitchell Starc is a freak
But you already knew that, right?
Two hat-tricks. In one match. By one player. This is not the work of an ordinary fast bowler.
He's in absolutely insane form right now and, as we said yesterday, Australia's bowling line up is looking sensational.
New South Wales v Western Australia
Victoria v South Australia
